Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Genuinely helpful staff — Guests repeatedly single out the team for being friendly, attentive and willing to help, with several reviews noting that English was spoken well. The staff score of 8.9 is the hotel's highest category rating.
  • Quiet street, good sleep — The hotel sits on a street closed to all traffic, and multiple reviews mention the quiet atmosphere and how easy it is to get a good night's rest. The evening music from nearby restaurants is noted as pleasant and not intrusive.
  • Strong breakfast for the class — Several reviews call the breakfast 'surprisingly good', 'one of the best', or 'unusually wonderful', with a buffet served from 7 to 10 am. It's a consistent theme even in otherwise critical reviews.
  • Excellent Old City location — Within walking distance of the Grand Bazaar, Sultanahmet and several key sights, and close to the Vezneciler metro stop and a tram station (3–5 minutes on foot) that runs directly to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and beyond.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Slightly dated furniture in some rooms — While the rooms are described as neat and newly decorated, at least one review mentions 'tacky furniture' in a recent room, and the furniture overall may not match the fresh decor.
  • Service rating is a touch lower — The Service category score is 7.5, below the hotel's overall rating. Some guests noted that staff could speak more English, though many others praised the language skills.
  • No pets allowed — If you travel with a pet, this isn't the place – the hotel's policy is firmly no pets, as stated in the amenities.
  • Limited on-site facilities — There's no mention of a gym, pool or spa – the facilities category scores a high 8.7, but it's mainly based on the core services like 24-hour reception, luggage storage and tours/ticket assistance.

“The service was excellent and the breakfast unusual and wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed spending 5 days in our recently renovated room with a double bed, iron and rather tacky furniture.”

“The location was good – within walking distance of the Grand Bazaar and other historical sites. The hotel is very quiet and perfect for a good night's rest. The street is closed to all traffic, and there's good shopping for clothes and shoes nearby. The staff are very helpful, though I wish they spoke a little more English. I've stayed here before and will return.”

8.2Verified guest

“I liked Maya Hotel. Everything was pretty good – pleasant staff, tidy rooms, free Wi-Fi even in the rooms, newly decorated building, good breakfast, and an excellent location in the very centre of the old city, next to famous mosques and sights. Topkapi and the Grand Bazaar are within walking distance, as are the Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia. The price is fair. Definitely recommended.”
